We’re back today with a new podcast ! “The is mix n°40 !!! “ with our man Somepling straight from Rennes in France __ This new show is really dedicated to all producers and people who really love the historical “MPC” Attitude!! CR - Where are you from?
Somepling - Born & raised in France, Northwest area.

CR - How did you get started making beats?
Somepling - In my childhood, I had the chance to learn a few instruments. Then i discovered hip-hop, mainstream like Public Enemy and more obscure stuff. Pete Rock, Premier, the classics...then people like MF Doom or DJ Shadow, going even further with samples. Started on Roland SP303, around 2000.

CR - Where do you find inspiration?
Somepling - I use to say sampling is all about accidents, crate digging. Sometimes i just come across a vinyl, listen to it...flip something out of it. There's no rule, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the main thing is listening. I probably spend 99,9% of my time listening to stuff, 0,1% producing. So, inspiration comes from listening.

CR - Favorite piece of gear?
Somepling - The one and only Akai MPC2000xl. One sampler + Records = infinite possibilities. I can't explain why i hate computers when it comes to producing music. Perhaps too complicated, i keep it simple, raw. and most important thing, i keep it manual.

CR - Can you describe your mix for CR?
Somepling - I selected a few tracks i just love listening to these days, some smooth joints, some loops. When you hear those tunes, you instantly know that this comes from the heart. Just emotion, that's all. That's what i like in music, when it's evident.

CR - What are your future projects?
Somepling -The most important project is my first LP dropping late August this year on Cold Busted (release date: 2011.08.31). It's called 'Cry Above', it will be available on Beatport, iTunes, Amazon. For past releases, check: somepling.tumblr.com/releases

CR - Your 3 mainstream favs tracks (2010-2011) ?
Somepling - Don't know what fits in mainstream. If this means artists who have large audiences, i'd say:
