After all, those experiences give me inspiration and shape my sound. My work, my friends, my family all influence what occurs sonically. The settings of occasions and the weather that day, the smells associated with those times, or the sounds generated by nature or people that occur in those moments: they form the intricate mosaic that manifests in my music. Tracks like ‘(I) Think I’m In Love’ make this idea clear. At the point in my life, I was embarking on something new, with a person I was getting to know, and that’s exciting; it’s inspirational. RKZ gauges the mood on ‘Take the Strain’: sometimes things are tough, and there are no quick answers and no easy solutions – you have to take it day by day. In terms of style, ‘Rewind’ features hip-hop instrumentals created in vintage Handbook style. Nostalgic samples and big drums, all tied together with intricate and elegant instrumentation.
